In 1948; Watkins Glen became the site of the first postwar road race in America on a 6.6-mile course through the village and surrounding highways; the present-day road course was built in 1956 and held its first race the same year. The circuit presented its first professional race in 1957 when NASCAR made its first appearance. NASCAR returned to the Glen in 1964 and 1965 and found a permanent spot on the Watkins Glen calendar beginning in 1986. Today; the annual NASCAR Sprint Cup Series race in August ranks as the largest spectator event in the state of New York. In addition to NASCAR and Formula One; Watkins Glen race fans have enjoyed Americas greatest race series; including Indy car; Can-Am; Trans-Am; six-hour endurance for prototypes; and amateur sports car racing.

Sound AdviceBy Andrew SchonbekThis small introductory (basic) book is big on sound and practical advice. Its possible to spend a lot of money setting up a home studio; and given the inherent limitations of typical residential spaces much of this can be wasted by applying out of context theory. I was seriously considering investing $ 14 K in doors and windows for my studio. After spending $ 7.95 on this little book Im going with a more basic approach thats suited to the other elements in the space that I now understand will set the overall acoustic performance that can be achieved. In the process Im going to save about $ 10 K. Talk about a return on investment!Notice Ive already used the word "basic" twice in this short review. Thats what this book is; and it doesnt pretend to be anything else. The approach that author Paul White advocates is simple; down to earth; practical; and yes; basic. If youre looking for a comprehensive and fully authoritative tome; look elsewhere. This is a primer which will get you started in the right direction; and may well be all you ever need.1 of 1 people found the following review helpful. Paul Whites Basic audio seriesBy dpgoldSave your money and just get Paul Whites Creative Recording 1 2 books.Unfortunately I found out (too late) that these Basic series are a direct (and sometimes even a condensed) extract from the Creative Reading 1 2 books; which I already owned. Therefore the Basic series is a VERY expensive way to get access to all of Paul Whites great information found in Creative Reading 1 2 books.0 of 0 people found the following review helpful. Great Start for Home StudiosBy G. PageThis was a good resource to understand the need to soundproof any room intended for recording. Being that most home studios are not at professional level; this book gives good ideas on how to get the most out of any room for whatever your recording needs may be.
