Young Children and Worship

[ePub] Young Children and Worship by Sonja M. Stewart; Jerome W. Berryman in Arts-Photography

Description

Robert Shaw is most celebrated today as the Oscar-nominated star in movies like From Russia with Love; A Man For All Seasons; The Sting and - most memorably of all - as Quint in the record-breaking Jaws. His breakthrough came when Hollywood was experiencing something of a British Invasion. Sean Connery; Peter OToole; Vanessa Redgrave and Richard Burton were among the new stars. But Shaw was arguably more talented than any; a figure of extraordinary and wide-ranging promise. More than just a mesmerising actor on stage and screen; he was also a gifted writer. He wrote no less than six published novels (winning the Hawthornden Prize); while his plays include the acclaimed Man in The Glass Booth. The flipside to Shaws diverse abilities was his well-earned reputation as a hellraiser. A fiercely competitive man in all areas of his life; whether playing table tennis or drinking whisky; he emptied mini-bars; crashed Aston Martins; fathered nine children by three different women; made (and spent) a fortune; and set fire to Orson Welles house. He died at 51; having driven himself too hard; too fast; but unable to get over his fathers suicide when Shaw was just 11. John French; Shaws biographer; knew him well; professionally and personally. Robert Shaw: The Price of Success is a perceptive; sympathetic; but unsparing portrait of the blessings and curses endowing this mercurial; enigmatic and deeply engaging man. This edition features a new foreword written by Richard Dreyfuss. Praise Both impressive and immaculate; a tremendously skilled biography... chillingly well told. Sheridan Morley I liked Robert Shaw: The Price of Success tremendously; and applaud its digital rebirth. Robert Sellers; author of Hellraisers and Dont Let The Bastards Grind You Down

It is extremely scarce; and very pricey. If you are willing to part with a house payment; or rent; this book is a keeper. It can only escalate in value. I know I bought an original Playboy for about 800.00 only to be able to turn around and sell it for twice that much; if I had wanted to. Then; all the reproductions came out; and even those are around 50.00 now. When I was a kid I could have bought an original for 75.00; go figure. This book is a coffee table layout. There are only 3 photos of the living Monroe in it; 2 out of the 3 are among the worst I have ever seen of her. I guess the photographer could only use the ones he had taken. These 3 photos are from around the 1956 press conference Monroe gave on her return to LA to film Bus Stop. The rest of the book is OK. There are some photos I have not seen; but only a few. The only controversial shot is a morgue shot showing one of her feet; and maybe the toe tag in crypt 33. The few people allowed in the funeral are contmemporary looking - that is the men are. The woman all look comical now; with their print dresses and white sunglasses and hats. Pat Newcomb looks turned out nicely; and not dated in all black; as well as the ever present Paula Strasberg in black. Dr. Greenson looks guilty in the shots. Back around 1990 when this book was published LIFE magazine was slated to do a special insert on the funeral in an upcoming issue; but for some reason it never showed up. This book is your only chance to see the activities that day. You should either be a very hardcore Monroe fan; or an investor to buy this book.1 of 1 people found the following review helpful. kindle copy not worth it;cant read;but can see photos;very small as they are!By Valerie A.
