A Yucaipa I never really knew. and I even lived there for over a decade!By JOSEPHI was very glad to come across this book and thoroughly enjoyed a book that gave a visual history of a town I lived in from 1972 to 1989. Before 1972 my family lived in Redlands. and I remember some Sunday drives to Yucaipa and Oak Glen. As I had remembered it. the town was a sleepy retirement community. mostly mobile home parks and "old people". With this book. how wrong my family had been!The mid 70s and 80s I have the better memories and recognized many people and names in this book for that era. I ultimately worked for San Bernardino County and did many calls to Yucaipa for the job even after me and my own family moved to the high desert in 1989 until we left the state in 2006.But I still have friends that live in Yucaipa and I will always have a special feeling towards the town even though it isnt the in any way the small rural town it was in 1972.I always felt that the sewer system was the death of the town in 1986 because lots that had been set up for 1 house were suddenly made for 4 or 5 houses! All those homes. all that traffic.I enjoyed the photos and stories of the towns history. but Im also glad I dont live there anymore!Ill be honest that even though I have several of the printed books of the series. I had no idea there are so many of them for so many places. That said though Ive always felt the printed versions to be overpriced for what you get and think this Kindle edition to be more fairly priced.And along with this book I found other titles for places Ive been to. to add to my wish list for future purchases!0 of 0 people found the following review helpful.
