After the Holocaust; the empty; silent spaces of bombed-out synagogues; cemeteries; and Jewish districts were all that was left of Jewish life in many German and Polish cities. What happened to this scarred landscape after the war; and how Germans; Poles; and Jews encountered these ruins over the past sixty years; is the story this book tells.

This is an AMAZING book!By classic cartoon loverI will start by saying I have not read the book yet (just got it today).but I have gone page-by-page through the artwork and it is fabulous. There is so much original art throughout this book that its staggering. Practically every page has wonderful McKimson art (NOT the standard "studio approved" clip art you get in so many of these golden age animation books).Ive got a bookcase full to overflowing with animation art/history books that I have collected over the years. but this may well be THE BEST of them all! There are nice size reproductions from comics.coloring books.animation drawings.animation layout drawings.model sheets.watercolor paintings.etc..etc..etc. throughout. If you enjoy original art from the Golden Age.you will NOT be disappointed with this fine book. This rivals(in my opinion)the Steve Schneider "Thats All Folks"WB book. More is covered than just the WB McKimson years and it is all beautifully presented in color and black and white. I HIGHLY recommend this to any and all animation/Warner Cartoon/comic art lovers!I wish this had been published years ago.but its been worth the wait.If you purchased this book just for the art(and never read it)I believe youd still more than get your moneys worth.Thank you Robert McKimson Jr. for such an outstanding tribute to your family legacy! And now Im going to start reading it.1 of 1 people found the following review helpful. Wonderful trip down cartoon memory lane!By CH-CincinnatiThis book is beautifully illustrated with scenes from so many of the cartoons I remember watching as a kid. The back stories behind the creation of the characters are fascinating as well. It covered many characters that Id even forgotten about but enjoyed seeing and reading about once again. I smiled with each page turn thinking. "I remember that episode!". This is a fun book for yourself or to be given as a gift which was the reason for my purchase.
